To further strengthen the coverage and closed-loop of Huayou’s industrial chain, Huayou Recycling has deepened its global footprint by establishing strategic partnerships with France’s SUEZ and Hong Kong’s GEM Sky International Holdings Limited (GEM Sky), exploring battery recycling value chains in Europe and North America.

Recently, Huayou Recycling and SUEZ officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly explore cooperation opportunities in battery processing in France and other European regions. This collaboration not only highlights the international influence of both companies in the battery recycling sector but also marks a concerted effort by global industry leaders to advance sustainable development and green economic transformation.

By combining their technological strengths and industry expertise, Huayou Recycling and SUEZ aim to drive innovation in battery recycling technologies, improve processing efficiency, and promote resource circularity, contributing to the EU’s green economy goals.
SUEZ, the world’s second-largest environmental services group, is a global leader with over 160 years of operational experience. It is dedicated to advancing sustainable ecological transitions through innovative water and waste management solutions. The partnership between Huayou Recycling and SUEZ will enhance global innovation in battery recycling and resource management, setting a benchmark for industry collaboration. This alliance also reflects both companies’ strategic commitment to fostering a greener global economy and environmental stewardship, leveraging international cooperation to address global challenges and drive sustainable development.

In September 2024, GEM Sky and Huayou Recycling signed an MOU to jointly develop innovative battery recycling models, creating efficient and effective solutions for global battery material recycling and green logistics.

On January 7, 2025, GEM Sky announced a battery recycling cooperation agreement with Huayou Green Energy Technology Netherlands B.V., a subsidiary of Huayou Recycling. This collaboration aligns with their strategic partnership, leveraging Europe’s existing 31 recycling service hubs to provide end customers with one-stop battery recycling and processing services. In compliance with the EU’s latest Battery Regulation, Huayou’s Dutch subsidiary will process all lithium batteries collected by GEM Sky at its localized European facilities.
Under the agreement, GEM Sky will leverage its expertise in reverse supply chain management to offer one-stop battery recycling solutions for automakers, energy storage providers, battery manufacturers, and other clients. Huayou’s Dutch subsidiary will provide professional support for backend battery processing, enhancing the battery recycling value chain. This partnership combines complementary strengths to establish a closed-loop system covering battery collection, transportation, processing, and material reuse.
About GEM Sky:
